Luna: My Former Favorite Band

Underrated and under-appreciated, Luna were indeed "my favorite" band through the late 90's—from Bewitched to Penthouse to Pup Tent, which most point to as their finest hour. That's with good reason, since those first two are flawless masterpieces in my view.

The rest of the catalog is also astonishingly good, with Romantica being the weakest offering of their seven full-length albums. I'm glad they finished on a high note with Rendezvous before calling it quits a few years ago. I’ve posted eight of my favorites, which was a tricky exercise, because there’s so much good material to choose from.

Tiger Lily

Slide

Ihop

23 Minutes in Brussels

Dear Diary

I Know You Tried

Ride Into The Sun

Still At Home

Hello,

Jessi here from Sarathan Records, a small indie label from Seattle. I've been a fan of your blog for a while and wanted to tell you about one of our new artists, Feral Children (myspace.com/feralchildrenseattle).

Here's a quick blip from a recent press release;

Feral Children are a high-energy Seattle-based experimental-rock band with a wide range of sonic explorations and an explosive live show. Their debut album, Second to the Last Frontier, was produced by Scott Colburn (Animal Collective, Arcade Fire) and draws upon and expands from their diverse set of influences. Comparisons to Animal Collective and early-era Modest Mouse are good starting points, but don't fully recognize Feral Children's complete range. Their ferocious live performances have ravaged audiences on the West Coast and SXSW. They've received endorsements and major airplay from Seattle's influential KEXP and garnered enthusiastic praise from local and regional press.

We'd love to offer you a free MP3 of the song "Spy/Glass House" that you are more than welcome post on your blog. If you like what you hear and you're interested, I will send you more free songs of theirs.

thank you!
Jessi

P.S. I hope this can be your next favorite band. :-)

P.P.S. Have a great weekend!
